Burger King is trying something new with its menu.
On the horizon, three new Garden Fresh Salads, Chicken Strips, Crispy Chicken Snack Wraps, and even a Southwestern Burrito.
The new menu items are Burger King's way of try to catch back up with the other fast food burger joints after a disasterous strategy of catering to young men who they called their "Super Fans"--avid fans who ate at Burger King five times a week--until the recession hit. Last month, BK lost its position as the second biggest burger chain in the U.S. to Wendy's (McDonald's is still far and away the #1 chain.)
So, now it is time to get back to the broader audience demographic, and broaders their menu offerings.
Consumers will start to see Chicken BLT's, Chicken, Apple & Cranberry, and Crisp Chicken Caesar salads being tested in markets across the country.
Coming onto the breakfast menu are Southwestern Burritos with sausage, cheese, hash-brown nuggets and egg, and snack-wrap size Sausage Burritos. The breakfast menu will also include baked-on-premise Cinnabon buns.
They're even going to offer their signature Whopper burger during the morning breakfast rush.
This sounds like a Whopper of an idea.
