Amazon.com does some holiday shopping, and picks up Diapers.com, Soap.com and BeautyBar.com

Last year, Amazon.com bought shoe-retailer and customer service-centric Zappos for $900 million.

This year, like many of us, they spent a little less on their next big acquisition--a $540 million deal for Diapers.com.

By buying the parent company of Diapers.com--Quidsi, Amazon will also get Soap.com, which sells drugstore products, and BeautyBar.com, which sells makeup and skin and hair products.

Quite a threesome of strong domain names.

From The New York Times:

The acquisition suggests how far Amazon will go to maintain its edge in many corners of e-commerce, including sales of bulky household items for which it competes against Walmart.com and online drugstores.
