Andy Warhol Cosmetics. Because “If everybody’s not a beauty, then nobody is.”

Makeup artist François Nars was inspired by Andy Warhol to create a limited-edition collection of makeup in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts <no pun intended>. The Nars Andy Warhol Collection's core products are available at Sephora, narscosmetics.com, and selected department stores until January 15.

The collection is framed by iconic Warhol imagery--with a set of five lip glosses housed in a metal soup can; the lemon-yellow 15 Minutes nail polish; and eye-shadow palettes imprinted with Warhol’s Self Portrait (1967).

There is also a wink to Warhol’s muses, including the Debby Harry Eye & Cheek Palette; the Beautiful Darling Gift Set, named after the drag queen actress Candy Darling; and the Edie Gift Set, an homage to Edie Sedgwick.

Nars is quoted as saying, “I was most inspired by the ‘factory’ part of Warhol’s world—all the iconic Andy Warhol superstars of the factory.”

According to Michael Hermann, director of licensing for the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, “For Warhol, makeup was an arrow in the quiver one could use to embody his democratic approach to beauty, best embodied in his own words when he said, ‘If everybody’s not a beauty, then nobody is.’”
