AOL buys TechCrunch, and signs the deal on stage at Disrupt conference

This morning at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco, AOL and tech blog TechCrunch signed a deal that makes the indpendent blog part of the AOL content family.

AOL Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tim Armstrong flew out to San Francisco to sign the deal on stage in front of 1,000+ attendees of the company's TechCrunch Disrupt conference. The 15 minute signing session was a disruption complement to the theme of the conference where start-up companies come to showcase their wares and hope for an AOL deal of their own one day.

Reports say that AOL paid somewhere between $25 and $40 million for his influential chronicler of the startup world.
