The folks who developed the Skyy Vodka brand have purchased San Francisco-based Anchor Brewing--the 114-year old company credited with starting the modern microbrewery movement.
Anchor has been owned by Fritz Maytag, heir to the washing machine fortune, since 1965. The two Bay Area entrepreneurs buying the company are Keith Greggor and Tony Foglio, of the investment and consulting company the Griffin Group. They say they plan to expand the brewery's operations.
