I just heard of another setback for the good name of Marketers everywhere.
Disgraced Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff has been released from prison, but is still under the supervision of the Bureau of Prisons and under home confinement.
He's allowed to live at home (rather than in a halfway house) because he has taken a job at a kosher pizzeria as a...marketer.
The owner of Tov's Pizza apparently hired Abramoff because he thought his business savvy would be a good background to help devise marketing programs for the restaurant.
Sure. Lobbyist/felon/marketer--they all go so well together.
"There are certain things that I know that I'm short on. I'm not very good at keeping up on our website," Tov's owner is quoted as saying. "It's always good to have a fresh eye on the place."
Hopefully he'll help Tov Pizza generate some positive buzz. As for the good name of Marketers, I'm not sure he can cast anything more than a negative light on our profession.
