Earlier this week I posted on Fortune Brands' decision to spin off its home and security business and golf business.
With this plan set in motion, the sale of its alcoholic drinks business is coming into focus.
The owner of Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, and Courvoisier brands (among many others) is suddenly interesting to a slew of spirit groups including Diageo, Pernod Ricard, and Bacardi according to the Financial Times.
From Financial Times:
Combined bids are seen as most likely, as occurred with the earlier sales of Seagram and Allied Domecq. “These three (Diageo, Pernod Ricard and Bacardi) are big, and cover the waterfront of brands pretty well,” said one banker, adding that antitrust issues would also rule out certain brands being acquired by various of the interested parties.
