McDonald's truly is the Microsoft of fast food.
Never innovative, but quick to follow other's success and make them their own--both are 800 pound gorillas.
So it is no surprise that, eyeing the successful footsteps of Starbucks and Jamba Juice, McDonald's is rolling out Fruit & Maple Oatmeal to its more than 14,000 restaurants on January 3.
The oatmeal item is coming out of test marketing, and will be available all day long (taking a cue from IHOP). Served, with (290 calories) or without brown sugar (260 calories), the oatmeal is said to contain half a cup of fruit — red and green apples, dried cranberries, and golden and regular raisins and will sell for $1.99.
