The Barnes & Noble NOOK Color Tablet--so much more than an e-reader

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Teresa Reid who works as a community manager for Barnes & Noble in Manhasset, NY. Teresa’s boss is an old co-worker of mine, and she thought we should connect.

Of course she came to our meeting armed with the new Barnes & Noble NOOK Color tablet.  She also opened my eyes to an interesting business angle to NOOK sales. You see, Barnes & Noble wants NOOKs in the hands of as many people as possible—and wants to sell them both to consumers, and businesses.

The business pitch is as corporate gifts. As Teresa says, “Show your appreciation for key clients, business associates and valued employees by giving them the award-winning NOOK Color.  There are over one million e-books available as well as magazines, and newspapers to enjoy.”

But of course! Gifts for your salesforce at annual meetings, at events and confrences; NOOKs as employee incentives, and client gifts. NOOKs for everyone!

The NOOK Color has a 7” VividView color touchscreen, and you can download wirelessly in seconds with built in WiFi. There are interactive books for kids that really enhance their reading experience, featuring exclusive Alive Touch, so your child can interact with the words and pictures, and easily find a favorite story and even have it read aloud to them.  You can get your e-mail on NOOK Color as well as enjoy an enhanced mobile Web experience with support for Adobe Flash Player.

It seems that many companies are already using the NOOK Color devices as employee incentives, as well as promotional items at sales meetings, trade shows and conferences. There also has been interest lately from ‘green’ hotels that are using NOOKs for newspapers/magazines for their guests.

My eyes opened. Thank you, Teresa. You can reach Teresa at crm1912@bn.com if you have any questions.
