This week, as "America" said goodbye to Idol judge Simon Cowell, the other Simon--Simon Fuller the creator of American Idol and So you Think You Can Dance, was making plans to buy back the franchise he sold many years ago. In fact, he's planning on buying the entire holding company that he sold to.
Fuller and former Barclays Capital banker Roger Jenkins are reportedly planning on submitting a $600 million bid for entertainment company CKX Inc. which owns not only Fuller's brainchild but the rights to the names and likenesses of Elvis Presley and Muhammed Ali.
Fuller sold his company, 19 Entertainment to CKX in 2005 for around $174 million and became a top executive there. He resigned from CKX and 19 Entertainment in January amid uncertainty over the company's future direction, but remained a consultant to certain properties according to The Wall Street Journal.
