Food Porn: At $50 Per Cup, This Coffee Better Come From The Dung of Elephants.

The world’s most expensive coffee is being brewed in Thailand, thanks to a herd of 20 elephants.

Yes, elephants.

The coffee is made from beans eaten—and then excreted by Thai elephants. The unique and pricey taste is derived from a “gut reaction” inside the elephant. It takes between 15-30 hours to digest the beans, which stew together with bananas, sugar cane and other ingredients in the elephant's vegetarian diet to infuse unique earthy and fruity flavors. The beans are then plucked from the dung.

The coffee made from these beans is priced at $500 per pound and sold as “Black Ivory Coffee”—a far more appetizing than “Elephant Dung Roast” or “It’s the Shits.”

You can pick up a cup of Elephant Joe at a few luxury hotels in Thailand, the Maldives and Abu Dhabi - with the price tag of about $50 a cup.

But no jokes about the shitty taste.
