HOUSE PORN: Decaying and Abandoned Castles by Thomas Jorion

Thomas Jorion, a Paris-based photographer, has created a series of images of European houses of grandeur—castles, mansions and manor houses, across Italy, Switzerland and Germany. The one thing they all have in common beyond their columns and ballrooms, is that they are all abandoned and decaying. In “Forgotten Palace” (Palais oubliés) Jorion creates art from crumbling walls, rotting metal, crackled frescoes, deteriorating cornices and peeling paint. The emptiness of the rooms creates an eery still life of a long gone grandeur.
