Derringer Moto-Hybrid Cycles: At the Intersection of Nostalgia and Adrenaline.

Derringer is an amazing bespoke cycle company. As a modern interpretation of the board track racing bicycles of the 1920’s Derringer’s moto-hybrid drivetrain gives riders fuel economy over 100 miles per gallon, and a tremendous amount of style. Each Bespoke Derringer cycle is custom built and no two are exactly alike. They say the cycles are made at the intersection of nostalgia, and adrenaline.

Board track racing has a heritage of both speed and danger that gives these cycles an edge. Popular in the 1920’s cycles were raced on wooden board tracks, with banking angles on the corners of up to 60.° Riders were daredevils before the age of safety concerns. Flirting with disaster at every turn, board track racing was a high-speed, no-brakes, little-fear sport for adrenaline junkies.

While Derringer cycles may never see those old wooden board tracks, the do look like nothing else on the road. The cycles can run at 35 mph and be both pedaled, or propelled with the engine. The cycles can cost $3,500 a piece, but come with a monogrammed gas cap, personalized helmet, and knowledge that you’re riding a one-of-a-kind adrenaline machine.
