Don't be rude and call me on my phone--I prefer a text.

We're going to make this post short, as we know you need to get back to texting...

According to a new study by the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project, about one-third of U.S. adults prefer texts over phone calls to their mobile phones.

Yes, that statistic is for the 83% of U.S. adults who use mobile phones, not just for Generation Y.

The study found that 31% of adults prefer to receive a text message--which still means that over half (51%) still like a voice cal, but it does suggest a growing habit of texting over dialing.

The survey polled 2,277 adults over age 18, between April 26 and May 22, 2011.
