Louisiana Bans Social Media While Driving.

For those who believe in multitasking while driving, be aware—your options are becoming more and more limited. First there were bans on using your cell phone while driving; then texting became forbidden; and now NO FACEBOOK!

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal signed a law that expands the current ban on texting while driving to include accessing social media behind the wheel.

The law prohibits drivers from using “any web-based service that allows individuals to construct a profile within a bounded system, articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and communicate with other members of the site,” with a fine of up to $175 for the first offense and up to $500 for subsequent offenses.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just call it “reckless driving” if you were doing anything other than driving while driving? I see people putting on makeup, fixing their hair, checking a map and even reading the newspaper in rush hour traffic. All of these things are currently legal to do in all 50 states.
