By now, you my have seen those talking gas station pumps--video screens that broadcast ads, news and weather while you pump your gas.
Now comes word of a talking newspaper rack.
California's Sacramento Bee newspaper is testing a talking news rack" which delivers a 15-second recorded message each time a newspaper is purchased. The "scrolling text news rack" has an LED unit mounted on it that displays a message to consumers as they walk by.
The rack can deliver breaking news headlines, a message from the editor, contest promotions, or advertisements.
Since installing the 100 units last year, the Bee has since seen an 8 percent increase in single-copy sales.
