BBC and Hasbro Accused Of Racism For Lightening The Skin Color of Doll

The BBC children's show "In the Night Garden" and toy company Hasbro are in hot water over lightening the skin color of a toy doll.

Seems the doll for sale at toy stores was much lighter-skinned than the television character.

After consumer complaints, the BBC has agreed to replace the "Upsy Daisy" doll after it was attacked for making the toy more light skinned than the on-screen version. Hasbro, the toy's manufacturer, has been asked to create a new version of the character with darker skin to avoid a race row.

Parents complained after realizing the Upsy Daisy doll was much whiter than its on-screen version with some accusing the BBC of racism and changing the doll's skin color to make more profit.
