A new campaign from Benetton features world leaders with lips locked to launch the UNHATE project, a new Benetton foundation of the same name, launched by Alessandro Benetton, executive deputy chairman of the Benetton Group. The foundation "seeks to contribute to the creation of a new culture of tolerance, to combat hatred, building on Benetton’s underpinning values."
According to Benetton "These are symbolic images of reconciliation - with a touch of ironic hope and constructive provocation - to stimulate reflection on how politics, faith and ideas, even when they are divergent and mutually opposed, must still lead to dialogue and mediation."
World leaders locked in a kiss include North Korean's Kim Jong-Il and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, among others.
The website also includes a kissing wall, where visitors can upload images and write a sentence to let the world know what visitors most "unhate". The system will randomly match your image with other pictures.
