Etch A Sketch--the world's first iPad, celebrates its 50th birthday

This week in 1960, the first iPad was invented.

Well, not really. This marks the 50th anniversary of the Etch A Sketch (which is earily similar to the iPad if you think about it).

And in fact, there is an Etch A Sketch iPhone app.

The toy hasn't changed much in its half-century of existence--although it does now come in the iconic red-with-grey-screen variety, or in neon-colored housings and multicolor interfaces.
