Hearst may be buying Hachette media group from Lagardere, France's biggest publisher

The largest publisher in France, Lagardere SCA, owns titles such as Car & Driver, Road & Track, Woman’s Day, Paris Match, and Elle's 40 international titles.

But that list of publications may shift owners very soon, as the company considers selling off titles to  “re-center on the geographic zones where it has critical mass,” according to a company spokesperson.

Hearst Corporation is said to be close to completing a deal with Lagardere to purchase the French company’s U.S. magazine group, Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S.

Lagardere also owns rights to the "Twilight" book series and a piece of pay-TV operator Canal Plus France and the aerospace company EADS NV.
