I readily admit that I'm not swayed much by celebrity-branded clothing and fragrances. It seems to me that professionals should stick to their own professions.
That said, I totally understand how brands work, and that consumers are drawn to the halo-affect of celebrity.
Here's a case in point.
Mariah Carey, usually seen in eye-popping, cleavage-baring attire is teaming up with HSN to bring her fans a new line of jewelry, shoes, and perfume.
The butterfly-themed line will be available on HSN and at hsn.com with shoes ranging in price from $69.90 to $169.90 and jewelry priced from $39.99 to $199.95.
As for the perfume, 25 limited-edition bottles of her Luscious Pink scent will be sold – complete with a Swarovski-crystal-encrusted butterfly cap and a personal note packaged in a gold cosmetics case.
