Everyone knows THE FIVE's favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is the SNL-spoofed Schweddy Balls, but we may be shifting loyalties as the company launches a new line of Greek frozen yogurt.
There will be four new flavors: strawberry shortcake, raspberry fudge chunk, banana peanut butter and blueberry vanilla graham. While not as catchy as fan favorites Chunky Monkey, Chubby Hubby, Phish Food, or even Cherry Garcia, the new line delivers some serious goodness.
Greek yogurt has been on a bit of a roll lately as consumers seem to go for the thicker, creamier texture balanced with more protein and fewer calories.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Greek yogurt growth has been among the fastest ever in the food and beverage industry. "In each of the last three years, sales of Greek yogurt have boomed more than 100%, while non-Greek yogurt has crept along at single-digit speed, according to The Nielsen Co. In 2008 alone, Chobani’s sales soared 2,812%."
Thanks Ben. Thanks Jerry. Although I'll probably still keep a pint of Schweddy Balls in the back of the fridge.
