Oprah's OWN peeking out from under the covers

With all of the resources and talent of the Oprah Winfrey franchise behind it, the new OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) may be a game changing success as a new television network. Or it could be a fantastic failure--due to over-expectation, and a failure to deliver on the promise.

Based on the first lineup of shows, it is looking pretty good. There is the expected: Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, Maya Angeou, Lisa Ling and Gayle King. And the unexpected: Wynonna and Naomi Judd, the Duchess of York (Fergie), Shania Twain, and Ryan and Tatum O'Neil. And, folks like Carson Kressley and Nancy O'Dell are thrown in for color.

Winfrey is starting from what she knows best; makeovers and learning, peeking into the lives of celebrities, and aspirational moments for living a better life.
