What is it about bacon? I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who didn’t like the smell, and taste of bacon. Even my vegan friends miss the thought of it (thank goodness for vegan-friendly Bacon Salt). How many of you have had bacon ice cream, bacon cookies, or a bacon sundae at Burger King?
As I prefer the more classic breakfast options—bacon and eggs, pancakes and bacon, etc. I was thrilled to see that Smucker's is now offering a new flavor, maple bacon flavored syrup. It sounds like nirvana to me.
Why go to the trouble of frying up strips of bacon when you can have your taste buds satiated with the flavor of bacon in liquid form? So how does syrup end up tasting like bacon? In Smuckers case, it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with true syrup, or bacon. Take a look at the ingredients: Corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, water, natural and artificial flavor, salt, caramel color.
Oops, I guess it is all-the-taste, without any of the natural ingredients. I guess I’m only half-way to nirvana.
