The Coca-Cola Sharing Can

A new Coke can concept from the minds of the cola company’s ad agencies Ogilvy & Mather Singapore and Ogilvy & Mather France is really quite brilliant.  Marketed as a great way to twist, turn and share a Coke, the regular-looking 12 oz can, can be split in two with a twist—one half a can for you, one half a can for someone else.

“There was one thing they couldn’t share” said Chris Garbutt, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy & Mather, France, “The can.”  “So we asked ourselves”, continued Chief Creative Officer, Eugene Cheong, Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, “What if they could?”

The agencies galvanized resources and shared thinking to make sharing a can of Coca-Cola possible. But beyond sharing, we love the idea that from time to time, all we really want is half of a can of Coke. The mini cans sounds like the perfect solution to lower sugar, and less waste when a full can is just too much. So whether you’re sharing, or watching your sugar intake, we think the to twist, turn and share concept is pretty cool. So, have a Coke and a smile.
