The importance of pickle promoting: Claussen is in search of the biggest pickle enthusiast

Claussen Pickles, a division of Kraft Foods, has launched a contest on Facebook to find the country’s biggest pickle enthusiast.

Reminding consumers to check the refrigerated section at their local grocer (most other pickles are in the condement aisle next to the ketchup and mustard), Claussen's “Conquer the Cold” Facebook contest asks fans to take a snapshot (can we still call them that?) next to the Claussen Pickles display. Once they post the photo to Fasbook, they can enter a chance to win cold-weather gear or an all-expense paid trip to Iceland or Alaska! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The contest stems from a larger campaign Claussen Pickles that stakes Claussen’s claim to being the best pickle in the supermarket and reminds shoppers where to find them.

The campaign features  Sir Edwin Horsham, who comically drives a dogsled around a New Jersey supermarket. The latest of four videos features Sir Edwin guiding a New Jersey shopper to Claussen Pickles in the refrigerator section while having to navigate past an angry polar bear.
